Emma Holman Scott was a longtime Austin resident who moved to Austin, Texas as a young girl with her mother,and siblings after the death of her father in 1897 in El Paso, Texas. Her mother, Nellie Delaney Holman, was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1858 to Judge William Shelby and Gabriella Shropshire Delaney (DeLaney).
